Tracy Thelen is the coach and founder of Thelen Coaching. She comes from a lifelong passion for endurance sports of all kinds.
Starting out as a runner, Tracy has run a marathon in all 50 states, as well as DC. She has multiple course records at marathons around the country, as well numerous top three finishes. Her marathon PR is 2:48:17 and she competed in the 2003 USATF Marathon National Championships and the 2004 USATF Half Marathon National Championships.
After transitioning to triathlons, Tracy had multiple top three overall amateur finishes at the 5430 Half Iron Triathlon, a second overall amateur finish at the 2007 Ironman Wisconsin, overall wins at the 2008 Grand Illini and Silverman Iron Distance races, as well as competing in the 2008 Ironman World Championships in Kona. Tracy also had two top ten finishes in the Xterra Off Road Triathlon USA series in 2010 and 2011.
Tracy is currently focused on ultra endurance mountain bike racing and 24 hour racing. She and her husband took second in the 2011-2014 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo Co-ed Duo class as well as second at the 2012 USAC 24 Hour National Championships. They have also won the Co-ed Duo class at 24 Hours in the Sage multiple times, 24 Hours in the Enchanted Forest in 2012 and 25 Hours of Frog Hollow in 2013. In 2013, Tracy placed second in the USAC 24 Hour National Championship in Women's Solo. She returned to the Enchanted Forest in 2014 for the USAC 24 Hour National Championships and took the final Women's Solo National Championship. She also placed second at the 2014 Vapor Trail 125 Alpine Mountain Bike Race.
It's not all about race results though. It's about making a lifestyle revolving around endurance sports and looking for adventures along the way. Life is about the journey and reaching performance goals. Life is also about satisfaction - balancing hard work and having fun, not just one or the other.
Training + skills + preparedness = success on all levels.
